The City of Sto. Tomas, Batangas, is a thriving and fast-growing community located at the foot of the legendary Mt. Makiling. Known for its balance of rich cultural heritage and modern progress, Sto. Tomas is home to over 218,500 residents (as of the latest census). It serves as a gateway to Southern Luzon, making it both a center for commerce and a tightly knit community where people look out for one another—especially in times of need.
Sto. Tomas officially became a component city on September 7, 2019, marking a significant milestone in its journey toward urban development and self-governance.
Despite its growth, the city has faced various natural and man-made calamities over the years. These include typhoons, which bring strong winds and heavy rains; flooding, especially in low-lying areas during monsoon seasons; landslides, due to its proximity to mountainous terrain; and fires, which have occasionally affected residential and commercial zones. In July 2025, Sto. Tomas was among the areas in Batangas impacted by severe weather disturbances, prompting widespread evacuations and damage to infrastructure and agriculture.
